I think all emulators should have a feature allowing it to play a physical copy of the game. If the emulator can't play a physical game, there should be a software (possibly hardware too) to copy the physical to the cloud vault of a store where other users can buy these games. Physical games are hard to keep preserve in that form when in use, and lost games could be found and possibly reverse engineered for companies to possibly remaster or remake.
I know there would be complicated processes on where and how the funds are used*, but other than that I'm sure everything else is possible.
*Truthfully, I think the major console companies should run their own cloud vaults for the emulators, similar to Sony cloud streaming for PSN users. It seems to be the safest way and I'm sure a pinch to them would interest them.
