It would be a nice and nostolgic feature to have an option to have the original system menu boot up before starting a game. For example you could boot up the Playstation 2 menu, see the iconic towers, and then either play the game or view the save files in the "memory card" so people could see the original animations the save files had. Or if Playstation 3 emulation becomes a thing, one could view saves, their friend list, and their ps3 games on the XMB. This would probably be something that would have to be done through services offered by the platform holders but it would still be a nice touch if it could happen.

It's a very cool idea, they should pitch it to Sony. Look at the popularity of the anniversary themes on PS4/PS5. Altough the PSX and PS2 menu were limited in their functionality,maybe they should be recreated to some extent, the PS3 XMB in full, since it was such a great multimedia device(bring back the album covers automatic download, the iconic music player visualisations, OtherOS, maybe update the browser). Also, we should have the option to select different versions(original available at launch vs later ones).

I like this a lot! I think I might open another feature request. Maybe something like a retro game room like some Sega collections had, with old Sony consoles and some faux-physical copies on the shelves to pick out and insert -

I like that idea! I think Namco also did sometimg like that in their collections. I know the system menu idea is possible since some emulators made progress doing it like Dolphin with the Wii and Gamecube menus, DS emulators with the DS menu, PCSX2 with ps2, and rpcs3 is even making progress with the xmb. It would be really nice to have either the system menu for more immersion or your idea to make it like you are picking up the physical disc. Maybe you select the game and console then it loads up the system menu. It would be a lot of work to do all that but it could be possible down the line
